Homemade Lip Plumper

Many women who have thinner lips or even average lips have a desire to have lips like Angelina Jolie or Scarlet Johansson. However, not all women want to risk the side effects or spend the money on collagen shots. Fortunately, there’s an alternative temporary fix to thin lackluster lips, and that’s called a lip plumper. Lip plumpers are a part of the lip gloss family and provide an effective way to give you temporary and effective “oomph” without surgery. But lip plumpers are expensive.  Instead of spending money on products from beauty retailers, raid your cabinets for a homemade lip plumper. The essential ingredient in most lip plumping agents consists of an irritant to the lips, which ultimately causes them to swell and appear larger. Make your own lip plumper using ingredients that are safe, natural and inexpensive.

To make homemade lip plumper, you only need a few common items. The results are not permanent, but you can use your homemade lip plumper as often as you like to have beautiful full lips all day long.  You will need 1 tsp petroleum jelly, ½ tsp beeswax, ground ginger, 2 drops of peppermint extract, and 2 tsp red pepper. Also take a small jar with lid, you can use those used for storing lip balms. Start by mixing petroleum jelly and beeswax in a plastic bowl. Now add ground ginger and red pepper as well in the bowl. Next, add given amount of peppermint extract in mixture. Close the lid and place in refrigerator. Make sure you make small quantity at a time, as it is best when used fresh.

Another homemade lip plumper; you will need cinnamon leaf essential oil and jojoba oil. You can also use olive oil, coconut oil or any other natural oil instead of jojoba oil. Also, take a small jar with lid. Now take 2 drops of jojoba oil or other natural oil in the jar. Add 2 drops of cinnamon leaf essential oil in the same jar. Close the lid and shake the bottle well to mix the oils. Now apply it on your lips to have a perfect plum effect. Well, make sure that you do not use cinnamon oil directly, as it can burn your lips. You must dilute it with oil, not with water.

And here’s the next recipe for you. Things you will need is small airtight jar, 2 tsp coconut oil, 1/8 tsp ground ginger, 1/8 tsp ground cayenne pepper, peppermint essential oil. And the steps to make; Add 1/8 tsp each of ground ginger and cayenne pepper to 2 tsp of melted coconut oil. These spices will sting a little, and will dilate the blood vessels in your lips. The dilation of the blood vessels in your lips makes your lips look more full and plump, and gives them a nice color. Then, add 1 drop of peppermint essential oil, which gives the gloss a cooling effect. You will need something to cool your lips because the cayenne and ginger may burn a little. Pour the lip plumper mixture into your airtight container and keep in a cool place.

Notes :

  1. Recycle old lip balm tins to store your plumper in.
  2. To help solidify the lip plumper mixture, add a little beeswax to the mix.
  3. The key to smoother lips is hydration. Drink plenty of water.
  4. Add a little honey to your lip plumper to sweeten the taste.
  5. Apply your lip plumper with a cotton swab to avoid getting cayenne and ginger on your fingers.
  6. Do not carry your homemade lip plumper around in your pocket or purse. Coconut oil has a very low melting point, and it could leak all over you if it liquefies.
  7. Test the lip plumper on your hand to make sure your reaction is not too strong. Cayenne and ginger are irritants, which is what makes them plump up your lips. Your reaction may be highly irritating to you or cause a slight burning sensation. Test first before applying to your lips.
  8. Wash your hands thoroughly after handling cayenne and ginger to avoid getting residue in your eyes.
